Fitness Supports ReadinessHealth and fitness are two areas of primary importance to the military community. Yokota’s sports and fitness program is geared to fill the fitness requirements of the base community. There are two facilities for fitness at Yokota, the Main Fitness Center across from the Base Library and the Natatorium located on the East Side. Yokota’s fitness program offers unique and creative exercise opportunities and events that promote a healthy, physically fit lifestyle. The Air Force Sports Program (AFSP) is designed to allow active duty, National Guard and reserve Air Force personnel an opportunity to participate at the Air Force, Armed Forces, national and international sports events. The AFSP is comprised of 15 different sports.

You will need to submit an AF Form 303, Request for USAF Specialized Sports Training by the date noted for your chosen sport. AF Form 303's are available at your local fitness center. The application must be endorsed by your supervisor and unit commander, and then given to the installation fitness center director, who will forward it to Headquarters Air Force Services Agency (HQ AFSVA).
Applications must be received at HQ AFSVA no later than 45 days prior to the first day of the trial camp you are applying for. Information included on the
AF FORM 303 includes a reverse chronological listing of sports experience, starting with most recent events. You should specify name of events in which you participated, level/division of play, results (to include specific age category if applicable), awards, commendations, and references. Copies of press releases may be forwarded, as well as letters of recommendation. If you played on a team sport, include name, location and classification of team, along with team results.
Team Selection ProcessSelections for the All Air Force Sports Teams are made approximately 30 days prior to the first day of the respective trial camp. The selection message will be disseminated to the MAJCOM sports offices, then base fitness center, squadron commanders and finally the selected individuals. Those selected are placed on permissive temporary duty (PTDY) to attend the training/trial camps and any other competitions (i.e. Armed Forces, national and international championships). The Air Force Sports Office will provide individual’s airline travel, lodging and a personal maintenance allowance during the above mentioned events. Athletes are expected to arrive in top physical condition, as camps are short in duration and physically demanding.
Armed Forces Championships include Air Force, Army, Navy and Marine Corps teams. Combined service all-star teams are often chosen at Armed Forces Championships to represent the United States Armed Forces at national and international military championships organized by the Counseil International du Sport Militaire (CISM), consisting of 122 member nations. Other international military events include Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) men’s basketball and AIRNORTH (Air Force competitions in Europe involving Germany, Belgium, United Kingdom, Poland, Denmark, and the Netherlands) track & field, swimming, volleyball and cross country.
