A new generation of golfers has stepped up to the tee and come out swinging. Since it’s inception at Yokota, more than 1,000 youth aged 5 to 13 have actively participated in the Yokota Par 3 Golf program and thousands more are involved throughout the Air Force. One youth golfer at Yokota has excelled, gaining momentum from hard work and a pure love of the game. Nathan Graham is only 9 years old, but he recently achieved a milestone that most golfers just dream about, a hole in one.

Nathan, a student at the Yokota East Elementary, has been actively playing for only 2 years, but his fascination with the game started when he could barely walk. His dad, Lt Col Scott Graham of the 730th AMS, first handed him a plastic child’s club when he was a toddler and Nathan’s been hooked ever since. During a recent match between father and son at the Yokota Par 3 Nathan stunned his dad by sinking a hole in one on the # 4 hole. Scott Graham came off the course grinning, but couldn’t help be a little envious, after all the odds are 5,000 to one for the average golfer. “I’ve never had a hole in one or even watched someone get one so I’m completely amazed and excited for my son.”

Nathan is just one of a growing number of youth golfers at Yokota showing exceptional talent and a pure love for the game. His success and dedication is a model and prime example of how so many youth at Yokota are striving for greatness through involvement with golf.
