The
Natatorium Indoor Pool houses a 50m Olympic-sized pool, exercise room and cardio training room, as well as complete locker room facilities with saunas and steam rooms. The Swim Shop offers various resale items like goggles, swim caps, special event t-shirts, and more.

Sakana Pool is located in the heart of the West Side family housing and is a popular destination on hot summer days. The outdoor pool is open seasonally only, from the beginning of DoDDs Summer Break through Labor Day every year.

Looking for a fitness alternative? Are you a tri-athlete who wants to improve on the swim portion of the race, or a lap swimmer who is looking for new and interesting workouts? Join us for a new, FREE swim workout group. All speeds are welcome and encouraged. Practices will be tailored to your level. You will learn or refine: stroke technique (all strokes covered; you can choose those you want to try), practice management, race strategy, interval training, flip turns, starts, equipment use, energy systems, seasonal training and more!

Red Cross Certification/Experience Skill Level Prerequisites Level 1-Introduction to Water Skills

LEVEL 2 - Fundamental Aquatic Skills1. Enter water unassisted, move 5 yards, bob 5 times to chin level and safely exit the water.
2. Float on front with support for 3 seconds, roll to back (with assistance) and float on back with support for 3 seconds.
LEVEL 3 - Stroke Development1. Step from side of pool into chest-deep water, move into a front float for 5 seconds, roll over to a back float, return to a standing position, then move back to a back float for 5 seconds and return to a standing position.
2. Push off side of pool and swim using a combination of arm and leg actions for 15 feet on the front; push off side of pool using combination of arm and leg actions for 15 feet on the back.
LEVEL 4 - Stroke Development1. Jump into chest-deep water from the side of the pool, swim front crawl for 15 yards with face in the water and rhythmic breathing pattern (to front or side), and maintain position by treading or floating for 30 seconds and swim back crawl 15 yards.
LEVEL 5 - Stroke Refinement1. Perform a feet-first entry into chest-deep water, swim front crawl for 25 yards, maintain a position on back for 1 minute in deep water (float or sculling), and swim elementary backstroke for 15 yards.
2. Swim breaststroke for 15 yards, tread water for 1 minute and swim back crawl for 25 yards.
LEVEL 6 - Swimming and Skill Proficiency1. Perform a shallow dive into deep water, swim front crawl for 50 yards, maintain a position on back for 2 minutes in deep water (float or sculling), and swim elementary backstroke for 25 yards.
2. Swim breaststroke for 25 yards, tread water for 2 minutes and swim back crawl for 50 yards.
